Tooth Sensitivity
Track the trigger
Notice whether discomfort follows cold drinks, brushing, or sweets and whether it stops quickly. This description can help a dentist investigate.
Why assessment matters
Exposed roots, worn enamel, decay, and cracks can all cause sensitivity. The appropriate response depends on the cause.
Keep a short symptom record
Notice whether the feeling affects one tooth or several and whether it ends when the trigger is gone. Mention recent dental work, changes in brushing habits, or a damaged filling if applicable. These observations are useful even if you cannot identify the exact tooth.
Discuss the finding before choosing care
A dentist may look for exposed roots, wear, decay, or cracks. A product intended to reduce sensitivity may be appropriate in some situations. A damaged tooth can call for a different response. If discomfort continues or worsens, describe what changed and what you have already tried.
